Heroes & Villains Fan Fest

Last month, I had the pleasure of working for part of Fan Fest’s social media team at Chicago’s Heroes and Villains Fan Fest convention. The event featured panels from the likes of Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Brandon Routh, and Stephen Amell.

While centric on The Walking Dead, the event hosted celebrities from all different superhero flicks and shows, including Gotham, The Flash, and Agents of Shield. In addition, a panel featuring the cast of Sons of Anarchy took place. The conversation eventually turned to the inevitable acknowledgment that most of the characters on the series bit the bullet. When asked how fans took the news of the deaths, Hurst quickly jumped in with an anecdote of a fan encounter. At a recent convention, a fan approached Hurst’s booth and requested that he autograph a receipt. “So, I signed it and I said, ‘why am I signing a receipt?’” recalls Hurst. He then went on to explain that the receipt was for a new TV the fan purchased because he had broken his former television by throwing a beer at the screen following the death of Hurst’s character.

The most popular panel of the weekend was a Q&A with Jeffrey Dean Morgan who spent close to an hour talking with fans about The Walking Dead and Supernatural. The convention was held on March 25th and 26th at the Donald E. Stephen’s Convention Center in Rosemont.

Check out some shots from the weekend!
